March 2025

Wow, the year is well underway, and I feel like I’m a bit behind the eight ball, how are we already in March?
January was a flurry of activity. With the Coolah Creek fruit trees abundant with ripe treats, the bounty was picked, poached and preserved into assorted jams, chutneys and relish’s ready to be enjoyed by our workshop guests, friends and family in 2025, with a few jars available in our shop.
We planted our fruit trees, mulberry, plum, peach, apricot, pear, apple and quince on moving to Coolah Creek some 11 years ago and they are now in full production, with the help of our beautiful bees to help pollinate; the fruit trees are prolific in a good season like we’ve had.
We also had some fabulous gardening weather in January, soft days where the sun was not beating down, making it bearable in the garden. My wonderful sister-in-law came to stay for a week, so we were both bottoms up in the garden. It makes so much difference when you have extra hands and between Beanie and our neighbour down the road coming to help with her three energetic children, we had a very productive time.

In February we headed east to the coast for a restorative seaside escape from the day-to-day life that is Coolah Creek. There is nothing quite like being in the sand and salt water, it is truly the only way to fully relax and restore the soul, with dinners out, friends and family I always come back feeling ready for year ahead. I hope you also had some time off to reset and recharge under the warm sun, readying yourself for the year ahead.
Now March is here, we are home, and I am reminded on how much there is to do to ready our patch for our garden open days and workshops booked in for the first half of the year. We love a deadline.
Speaking of deadlines, although booking deadlines are always fluid at Coolah Creek, we are excited to share our annual calendar events with you.

We are also delighted to announce that in 2025 we will be hosting a Coolah Creek Open Garden Day. With the garden in full bloom each October, it seems outrageous to not share it with you all. More to come on this project, but in the meantime please reach out for private event and garden tour bookings.Hosting your group for lunch in the Coolah Creek garden is always my pleasure.

On a final note, i had my beautiful mum staying with us last week and I am reminded about the importance of time. As we get older our body slows and our day to day is precious, although things take more time, taking that time makes all the difference. I also have my daughter Holly living at home at the moment and the time she takes do things is at the other end of the spectrum, quick as a flash. When it comes to technology and socials, she leaves me for dead, mind you that’s not hard. Having three generations in the house is a privilege, I believe we should do more of it and take the time to enjoy them.
I will sign off now as the garden calls.
We look forward to sharing the Coolah Creek patch with you again in 2025.
